Not all 3D designs have to be for larger scale office and warehouse fit outs. This sketch was used to help clarify the look of a trade counter we are building for our one of our returning clients.
At STS Storage Systems, we are now using a variety of 3D design software packages on an almost daily basis. We can produce the high-end project visualisations you can see on our video page, but we can also produce these ‘sketch’ style illustrations. These quick renderings are an excellent way to communicate with a client the qualities of a space if the details may be hard to visualise in plan and section drawings. These clear and easy to read visuals can play a key role in explaining project principles to key stakeholders. Every detail of the scene can be conveyed to the viewer, such as the different material finishes, plant layouts, and furniture configurations. We can also simulate the effects of different lighting.
In a recent project, we used an interactive walkthrough so a client could freely walk around inside a representation of their office layout. This real-time process proved invaluable for both parties, and as a result the design evolved. These issues could have gone unnoticed until much later on were it not for our 3D applications.
