What shelving system do I need?
The choice can be bewildering, so the first question to ask is “What am I using it for?” is it for bulky items or smaller parts? Is space at a premium? Where do you want to site it? In other words, what is the product profile and how do you need to pick and access it?
With a fast pick operation, you could consider a live storage system using rollers beds, popular on factory and pick lines.
Longspan Shelving: A hybrid system between pallet racking and shelving, this versatile system will hold larger (non-palletised) loads suitable for the manual handling of products. Read more.
Metal Adjustable Shelving: A smaller lighter duty shelving system aimed at small parts, plastic container (tote bin) storage which can be used in stores and offices, this shelving system typically comes in two standard widths, various depths, heights and has the option of being part/fully enclosed (cladding). Mobile Shelving: A more specialist application where space is at a premium. This operates on the same principle as pallet live storage but is used for stock which needs to be hand-loaded and picked.
Inclined trays of roller tracks which are set at levels in the storage bays allow goods to roll under the force of gravity to the pick location. Order picking times are reduced and errors minimised. Carton flow racking provides an excellent, labour and space-efficient method of ‘first-in, first-out’ storage, particularly in areas where handling and using fast moving product lines are of paramount importance.
