New Mezzanine And Staff Offices For Nail Care Company.

The Challenge

Having outgrown the current facility and with the need to support growth for a new brand, The GelBottle needed help to design and implement a full site fit-out at their newly acquired premises to incorporate office space and staff welfare, as well as stock holding, order picking and order fulfilment for a young and evolving e-commerce business. Our design needed to allow for future expansion of the business. As is often the case, very little of the existing structure and services met the demands of the operation. STS put together a design package including drawings, necessary approvals and a site phase plan.

The Solution

Before the project could commence with the actual build phase, the site required a fair bit of demolition: Works included isolating and testing of existing electrics; removing an office structure in poor condition, and removing dividing party walls and surplus toilets that were in the way, all requiring sign off by a Structural Engineer.

Once we had a blank canvas, we built a new mezzanine floor with open plan offices on the first floor, new toilets, kitchen, and meeting room on the ground floor. The warehouse operation needed to revolve around the shelving system designed for picking the 500+ SKUs of products and the configuration had to allow for a serpentine pick route. Critically, the shelving system was designed to be scalable to be easily extended in height in the future for either a 2-tier shelving system or for use with a small man-up order picker.

We installed adjustable pallet racking for bulk storage in the goods-in area.  Once orders are picked at The Gel Bottle they’re consolidated in the packing area using new benches where the items are boxed up and sent on a newly designed and supplied conveyor system to a collection area ready for dispatch
