The Challenge

To create the additional warehouse storage for new products we would have to build a new mezzanine floor in the existing unit whilst Smash Sports remained trading as normal.

Having moved into their current unit some two years previously Smash Sports were bursting at the seams due to both the popularity of their existing ranges and the pending arrival of a new sports bag range. After careful consideration Smash Sports employed the expertise of STS Storage Systems Ltd to design a mezzanine floor which gave them greater trading capacity.

Smash Sports could not afford to stop trading and were unable to move the existing shelving away from the intended installation area.

Careful planning, site meetings and considerations were given to manage the site to ensure Smash Staff were able to operate their business whilst keeping them safe.

It was essential that the mezzanine columns were plotted and built to cause the least obstruction and avoid the aisles.

The Solution

To accurately plot and build the mezzanine floor around the workings of the busy pick and pack operation.

STS Storage Systems Ltd undertook the task by using suitable plant equipment to work in the aisles and straddle the shelving taking a mere two days to complete the task.

As part of the pre-site meetings STS Storage Systems Ltd also discussed the colours of the mezzanine metalwork to integrate the new floor into the existing colour scheme. The mezzanine floor was also matched up to an opening the customer was going to install after completion.
