The Challenge

The Modern Man had outgrown its current warehouse facility due to its overwhelming success. The company needed a flexible shelving and racking system to accommodate the numerous products in their portfolio.

Due to its vibrant city centre location finding the perfect location was not easy and had to make the chosen facility work for them.

Pick times and efficiency were key to the success of the new warehouse, as well as maximising the capacity

The Solution

The key element was to utilise the volume of the building as much as possible with the focus being on the hand pick operation.

The use of a Wav machine meant that the height of the building could be utilised to the full, whilst adhering to the HSE guidelines on working safely at height due to the narrow aisles required and the height of the longspan, it was necessary to add a rail guidance system to allow safe travel for the Wav machine operation.

As well as longspan, a pallet racking system was installed to cope with the larger bulk items needing to be broken down into shelving.

Finally, we designed a louvre panel system with plastic containers at the end of the runs to handle very small items. Our drawings were used for lighting overlays to aid the electricians who were working directly for the client.
