Following the STS Storage Systems end of year, the team decided it would be a great idea to try their hand at Segway’s located at Go Ape, based at Black Park in Iver.
The six of us (less Malcolm who has recently had knee surgery) descended to Go Ape on Friday afternoon for an hour of hacking around the autumnal trail paths. Avoiding trees, dog walkers and ramblers whilst trying to stay upright – which some managed better than others!
After 10 minutes of training the instructor deemed us all safe in the use of the Segway’s and doubled our speed for the remainder of the session. The Segway’s had top speeds of 12mph, although this felt quicker as we avoided branches, roots and each other. We managed to avoid killing each other unlike the inventor of the Segway Jimi Heselden who actually died whilst using his own machine!
After the highly enjoyable hour we then headed to Windsor where Malcolm and Gill joined to enjoy a few refreshments and a nice Thai meal.
