Background

FreightMinds was launched in 2021 when the founders realised they could offer a better service to their growing portfolio of clients than they could working for someone else. A large part of their business is focused on the entertainment industry, providing global logistics solutions to artists on tour and ensuring set props and instruments are delivered seamlessly. As their operation at Heathrow expanded, they needed a Mezzanine Floor solution and robust Pallet Racking system to maximise every cubic metre of their new air‑freight‑approved warehouse.

The Challenge

Freightminds contacted STS Storage Systems to supply and install a mezzanine floor, pallet racking and mesh partitioning in their new warehouse unit next to Heathrow Airport. The intention was to create a number of secure storage areas for clients’ high‑value musical instruments and sound equipment.

Unlike most warehouses where the concrete slab sits directly on the ground, this unit occupies the first floor of the Heathrow building. That created a particular challenge in determining the load‑bearing capacity of the structure and ensuring our design—including the Mezzanine Floor and Pallet Racking layouts—didn’t compromise the building’s integrity.
