The Challenge

To build a 2500m2 two tier mezzanine, electrics, fire alarms and building works including dilapidations. Having secured a large unit in the nearby vicinity to their current property, International Copiers had acquired a new 1890m2 warehouse to fill which also had masses of headroom to utilise. STS Storage Systems were invited to tender for the project and wasted no time in completing a full survey and initiating a full brief. The outgoing tenant was still occupying the building meaning the area was full of stock and pallet racking, making the situation more complex. A large industrial generator occupied a corner section of the warehouse which needed to be removed. STS Storage Systems were appointed on the basis that the overall two tier mezzanine proposal fitted the customers brief and was the most comprehensive and competitive. International Copiers were strict on timescales and the ability of STS Storage Systems to meet such deadlines also helped to secure the order.

The Solution

The project was large and complex and required meticulous planning and compliance to CDM (construction, design and management) regulations to ensure a safe site and well run site. STS Storage Systems set about allocating a dedicated project manager to ensure that the project ran on time, on budget and was safe for the numerous contractors and customers alike. The dilapidations began which included removing studwork walls, electrics and a diesel operated generator. The cost of removing specialist ducting was prohibitive and remained in situ. We designed our two tier mezzanine floor around the ducting to accommodate this ducting and save the client an additional cost. STS Storage Systems ensured that all the complex site conditions were met, supplying a one stop shop for the client safely, on time and on budget.
