Ben Harris our, Contracts Manager, is running the London Marathon for Rennie Grove Hospice Care as a thank you for the support and care they gave his Grandad during his end of life care in May 2020.
After losing his mum at an early age, Ben was raised by his Grandparents and had a very close relationship with his Grandad. In 2020 he was diagnosed with Covid pneumonia whilst in hospital and later passed away due to the effect it had on his lungs and body.
His Grandad spent the final 3 months of his life in Wexham Park Hospital and was not allowed visitors due to the COVID restrictions throughout the pandemic. However, when it was clear he didn’t have much longer to live. Rennie Grove contacted Ben and made arrangements for him to spend the final week of his life at home where he eventually passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
Rennie Grove allowed Ben to say goodbye and thank you, to his Grandad. Something that he will be forever grateful for. For this is the reason Ben has agreed to represent Rennie Grove in the 2022 London Marathon.
Ben has already completed the London Marathon once before in 2015 in memory of his Mum – this time, he is running for his Grandad.
We wish Ben all the luck and know he is running for an amazing cause – if anyone would like to donate please see Ben’s Just Giving page
