Like most storage systems, mobile shelving is designed to maximise your current floor space, the difference with mobile shelving systems compared to other solutions is you can choose whether you want half the space or double the capacity. Mobile shelving systems are mounted on floor tracks – offering a simple operating process – and with the system running on tracks only one aisle is needed. So, when access to a specific item is required regardless of its location, the mobile shelving unit can be moved aside until the needed aisle is created. Mobile storage systems are extremely versatile and can be used to store practically anything and allow for easy accessibility, a solution designed to meet the increased demand of businesses storage requirements.

Compared to traditional static shelving, mobile storage solutions can increase capacity by 100% whilst using the same floor space. Or, if you need the floor space, you can keep the same loading capacity but cut the space used by static shelving in half. In other words, whether you’re looking for a 100% capacity increase or a 50% decrease in space usage, mobile shelving systems are the best solution for your requirements.

As well as freeing up much-needed space and increasing your storage capacity mobile shelving systems operate smoothly and quietly due to their design and functional mechanism. They are also a more sustainable solution as they are highly adaptable and can lead to an overall reduction in costs in both storage and running expenses.

Where can mobile storage be used?

As we have mentioned, mobile storage is extremely adaptable and versatile so the system can be used everywhere! Each system is designed to suit your specific space and particular need.

Mobile shelving systems offer a practical and effective form of storage in the following environments:

Hospitals: For the effective storage of medical records and admissions

Offices: For the storage of important documentation and working files (even though most businesses are adopting a paperless approach, there is still an element of storage that is required)

Banks and Building Societies: By law, banks and building societies have to keep customers records for a certain number of years mobile storage is an obvious solution

Legal Offices: Similar to the above, lawyers and solicitors need to keep client information for some time as well as the need to refer to files during the settlement of a case.

Libraries and Archives: Ideal for the storage of large amounts of files and papers where space is usually restricted.

Three types of mobile shelving can be offered as a solution to your requirements: hand-pulled manual; mechanically assisted manual and powered mobile.

Hand-Pulled Manual Mobile Shelving

Ideal for slow-moving, lightweight small parts storage or archiving. As lightweight installations, they are produced in short runs of three bays maximum. This is probably the most economical form of mobile installation you will achieve.

Mechanically Assisted Manual

The main difference between this form of shelving and the hand-pulled version is its ability to hold greater weight and have a much-increased length of the run. This makes it ideal for larger installations with varied and heavier product weights. The mobile aisles are moved using a handwheel.

Powered

Powered mobile shelving offers an even greater level of convenience for the user. Ideal for the storage of expensive or fragile items as the system can be closed and locked.
