Autograph Sound recently celebrated 50 Years after being founded in 1973 by sound designer Andrew Bruce who was working at the Royal Opera House, when he was approached by a well known theatre producer – with concerns about the sound quality for West End Productions.
Andrew took on the challenge and was promptly invited to design and rent to the producer a sound system that worked and had the quality that was missing from stage shows at the time.
Autograph Sound was born, and the stage was set to provide exceptional quality sound to theatres and live events across the world.
STS first got involved with Autograph Sound when we were employed back in 2016 to supply and install a mezzanine floor in their warehouse facility at Tufnell Park. With their 10 Year Lease Agreement coming to an end in 2026 at Tufnell Park, Autograph Sound went searching for a new larger unit to continue and expand their operation and storage capacity. We were approached in 2025 by their Operations Director Jon Sealey to supply and install a mezzanine floor with new Offices and Workshop rooms at their new proposed unit in Greenford.
We worked closely with Jon on the mezzanine design and shape and eventually an office layout that could accommodate all of the staff and operations required in the new space on and off the mezzanine floor.
Working closely with Jon Sealey and the Autograph Sound team, STS designed a bespoke mezzanine floor solution that maximised the available footprint within the new Greenford facility while creating dedicated office, workshop and storage areas.
A key requirement was ensuring the new mezzanine aligned precisely with an existing civil mezzanine already present within the building. The finished floor level was carefully designed to match the existing structure, allowing safe and seamless movement between both areas via a newly formed opening and fire-rated access door.
To support the company’s operational requirements, STS also designed and installed steel partitioning systems on both the ground and first floors, creating secure warehouse offices and workshop spaces. Fire protection measures were integrated throughout the installation, ensuring full compliance with current building regulations while providing a safe and future-proof working environment.
The completed installation has provided Autograph Sound with a modern, flexible and future-ready facility capable of supporting the company’s continued growth. By combining additional warehouse storage with dedicated office and workshop accommodation, STS delivered a solution that maximises operational efficiency while making full use of the available building footprint.
The seamless integration with the existing mezzanine structure allows staff to move freely between working areas, while the new partitioned offices and workshops provide a professional environment to support the specialist services Autograph Sound delivers to theatres and live events around the world.
